Life Insurance & IUL Coverage Options
Indexed Universal Life(IUL)
Permanent life insurance that can build cash value tied to a market index while providing a death benefit for your family. Cash value growth is based on index performance subject to caps and floors; it is not invested directly in the stock market. Accessing cash value through loans or withdrawals will reduce the policy’s values and death benefit and may have tax consequences—please consult your tax professional.
Term Life Insurance
Low-cost term life insurance for a set period—simple, affordable coverage to protect income and your mortgage.
Key-Person & Buy-Sell Coverage
Protect your business if an owner or key employee dies or becomes disabled. Fund buy-sell agreements with term or IUL.
Annual Policy Tune-Ups
Yearly life insurance reviews to keep costs low and benefits aligned as your family or business changes.
Your Life Insurance Questions, Answered
We hear these questions all the time from families in Minnesota and other states where we’re licensed who are exploring life insurance with living benefits. Click any question to see a simple, honest answer.
What types of life Insurance do you offer?
We work with several types of coverage, including:
- Term Life Insurance – Affordable protection for a specific period (10, 20, 30 years, etc.).
- Indexed Universal Life (IUL) – Flexible permanent coverage that can build cash value tied to a market index.
- Final Expense / Burial Insurance – Smaller policies designed to cover funeral and end-of-life costs.
- Mortgage Protection – Coverage designed to help pay off or reduce your mortgage if you pass away.
- Policies with Living Benefits – Riders that allow access to part of the death benefit if you have a qualifying critical, chronic, or terminal illness.
We’ll recommend options based on your goals, health, and budget.
What are “living benefits” and how do they work?
Living benefits are features built into or added onto certain life insurance policies. If you suffer a covered condition—such as heart attack, cancer, stroke, or a terminal illness—you may be able to access a portion of your death benefit while you’re still alive.
You can usually use this money however you need: medical bills, replacing lost income, travel, or just keeping your household afloat. The amount you take out is simply deducted from the final death benefit.
Specific rules and triggers vary by company and policy, so we always review those details together before you apply.
How much life insurance do I need?
The “right” amount depends on your situation, but many families start with this basic rule of thumb:
10–15 times your annual income, plus
Any major debts (mortgage, student loans, car loans), and
Money you’d like to set aside for college, final expenses, or leaving a legacy.
During your quote call, we’ll run through your numbers and suggest a coverage range that fits your budget instead of pushing a single “perfect” number.
How much does life insurance cost?
Cost depends on:
Age and gender
Health and medical history
Tobacco or vaping use
Type of policy (term vs IUL vs final expense)
Coverage amount and length of term
Many families are surprised how affordable term life can be—often less than a daily coffee for basic coverage. We’ll show you several options side-by-side so you can choose what feels comfortable.
Do I have to take a medical exam?
Not always. There are two main types of underwriting:
Traditional underwriting – May include a short exam, bloodwork, and medical records. Often best for larger coverage amounts or more complex situations.
Simplified or No-Exam options – Use health questions and electronic records instead of a full exam. These are faster and more convenient but may have certain limits.
We’ll help you decide which route is likely to give you the best approval and price.
Can I get coverage if I have health issues?
In many cases, yes. Past health issues (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) don’t automatically mean you’ll be declined.
We’ll:
Ask a few honest health questions,
Match you with carriers that are friendlier to your situation, and
Let you know ahead of time if a graded or modified benefit plan might be more realistic.
There is no obligation to move forward if you don’t like the options.
How does the application process work?
Our process is simple:
Short discovery call – We learn about your family, goals, and budget.
Custom quotes – We compare multiple carriers and present options.
Online or phone application – We complete the application together so nothing is missed.
Underwriting & decision – The insurance company reviews your application, and we keep you updated.
Policy delivery – Once approved, you review the policy and set up your payment. We stay with you for reviews and updates over time.
Most of this can be done by phone or Zoom, so you don’t have to leave home.
Do you charge a fee for your services?
No. You do not pay us any fees for quotes, education, or help setting up your coverage. We are paid by the insurance companies when a policy is issued, not by you.
Our job is to find the best fit for your situation, even if that means starting smaller now and increasing coverage later.
I’m an immigrant / English is my second language-can you still help?
Yes. We specialize in helping immigrant families, including Hmong families and other communities who may not have grown up learning about life insurance.
We explain everything in simple language, step by step. If you prefer a specific language or need help translating for a family member, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
How do I get started?
